This group is for people who want to be involved in their food chain from source to ready to eat. The purpose is to rekindle and learn the art of food from hunting, fishing, foraging, and growing to preparation, storage and consumption with a locavore focus.

Each meet-up will involve one or more steps led by an expert. One goal is to have some of these experts join to share their skill or craft; if you know someone who can contribute, please ask them to join. The only costs should involve hard costs, such as facilities, ingredients, materials, tools, fuel, permits, etc., i.e. members can not charge for teaching, organizing, etc.  We do, however, also join organized trips given by professionals who charge for them.

Example topics: Hunting, fishing, or foraging for specific foods including organized trips; slaughter, butchering, preparation, and preservation; use of entire animal, canning; charcuterie; cooking, etc.

Our dicsussion boards are chock full of helpful information, such as advice, recipes, cookbooks, and relevant events around the Bay Area.

Members who teach receive a three month dues credit starting in the month in which they teach.
