The Hurst Amateur Radio Club started as the Citizen Communications Club in 1966 with a focus on CB Radio. Since then, amateur radio has replaced CB radio, but the focus is still the same - communications and community service. The objectives of the club are now: - to promote the proper use of Amateur Radio - to educate the users of radio equipment - to aid in disaster/emergency communications - to promote, generate and encourage interest in Amateur Radio HARC also partners with the City of Hurst to provide emergency communications response through RACES (Radio Amateur Emergency Service). We assist the city in monthly siren tests, participate in county-wide RACES activities, and support the city during disasters from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
