Arkham Horror and Halloween Party! (parking spots)

  • Oct 26, 2013 · 1:00 PM
  • Joe's House

Halloween Party!  We'll play Arkham Horror till the Cosmic Evil Eats Our Eternal Souls!

We can mix hanging out and playing more games if there is the will.

I can also run some horror movies on the TV downstairs.

Horrific edibles will be available and potluck contributions appreciated.

The house will be spooked up and costumes encouraged.

Anyone coming as a specific Arkham Horror character will be guaranteed to play that character if they wish.  If multiple versions of the character shows up, the "best" one will get it (by vote of the players at the board), unless there are multiple boards going.  Feel free to announce your plans to come as a character to better coordinate.  Here is a list of the characters:

Here is a list of which ones tend to do the best:

Other Halloween themed games are also encouraged including Betrayal on House on the Hill, Mansions of Madness, Touch of Evil, Elder Sign, and Ghost Stories.  As the night goes on, if you get tired of the terror, you can play other games of course.

In case you don't know Arkham Horror:

This is a cooperative game in which you take the role of the various characters from the 20s and seek to save the town (and the world) from Ancient Evil, which is seeking to break through to our world. Basically you run around the town, visiting the town locations to gather up goodies, beat up monsters, and seal up the gates to other dimensions. Things are usually pretty desperate and the ambience of horror tends to be fun. The game mechanics are a little complicated but it's pretty straightforward once you pick it up (and since it's cooperative, your fellow players will be trying to help you out).

Including explanations for new players, I expect this to take about 5-6 hours.

Since we only have a limited number of parking spots, I'm going to maintain two RSVP lists, one for cars and one for folks who are carpooling/coming in from the Metro/biking/etc. If you are bringing a guest or S.O. in your car, please add an appropriate RSVP to the non-car list as well.  Sorry for the inconvenience!

Joe, heads up I might be 10 minutes late, it all depends when the verizon tech gets here, I have an appointment for them to come setup the FiOS at my new place between 8am and noon, and google maps estimates the drive to take 60 minutes, so if they come at the very end I could be late. But if they come early this becomes a moot post. I will keep you up to date.

Verizon really messed up my order on this one. I was suppose to have it on the 19th but now it is delayed to the 26.

I'm going to be Michael McGlen, the gangster. It's hard to beat a Tommy Gun for a companion when visiting with the cosmic horrors!
