India for Safe Food (http://indiaforsafefood.in) is a movement for change amongst Indian farmers, consumers and the government to ensure that all Indians have access to safe food, devoid of toxic substances. Today, Indian agriculture uses hundreds of toxic chemicals in large volumes, which end up contaminating water, soil and food.
Many people are fighting against this ill-effects of pesticide usage in our food. This was the topic picked up by the popular television show anchored by Aamir Khan, Satyamev Jayate and activists of India For Safe Food were part of the show.
As part of this a Bicycle Rally is planned at Necklace Road on 5th August 2012. Prominent people like agriculture scientist, executive director of the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture Dr G V Ramanjaneyulu would be attending. The aim of the campaign is to reach out to the consumers to make them aware about the harmful effects of the pesticides-used foods filled with toxins which affect nervous and reproductive systems not only for current generation but also generation to come.
This Campaign has Two Events
1. A 7km awareness ride on Necklace Road (Sanjeevaiah Park to Peoples' Plaza)
2. A 90Km Ride to the chemical free, Organic village Enabavi, near Jangaon, Warangal. Will start at 5:30AM morning from Paradise hotel, Paradise Circle. Riders please be there by 5:20AM.
Participants who wish do the 90km Ride must have done a 50km+ ride once or twice. The return transport from the Village to Hyderabad will be arranged for the both rider and the bicycle. Please carry your bike spares and some glucose along with you.
Along with your RSVP please mention if you are going to the 90KM or 10KM ride. This is required for the organizers to make the arrangements.
