Exploring Deep Trance

I often define Hypnosis as a conflation of two separate topics: 1. the endeavour to achieve an altered state (calm focus or trance or relaxation) and 2. the endeavour to understand and improve the subconscious mind's functioning. While I usually focus on number 2, in this meetup we will focus on number 1 by discussing what stops us from visiting a place of inner peace and then share a guided session with emphasis on achieving a deep trance.

If anyone is seriously planning to attend and has a fear of water, swimming, drowning, etc., please let me know so I can prepare alternatives to the metaphors for getting deeply relaxed that are water-based.

Wednesday July 17, 7:00-8:30pm, near Dufferin Mall (not Rexdale/Etobicoke as the e-map might show...someone else has the same street address out there but we will be meeting near Dufferin and College, M6H 1E7. This is just South of Dufferin Mall, 2 blocks North of College, just West of Dufferin, and running one-way Eastbound from Brock or Sheridan).

All levels of meditative experience & ability welcome.

All hypnosis is self hypnosis. Hypnosis (strategic meditation) is easy and natural and can be likened to a mental massage. No one can get stuck in trance any more so than a nap or sleeping. We all wake up eventually, like it or not :-). You can think of this session as intentional dreaming.

Apart from opening discussion, sharing, and Q&A, the guided session will include much more content for relaxing than for personal improvement. However I will definitely include some concepts for growth and I'm open to requests of ideas to incorporate.

Many people find deep trance useful for building a stronger sense of well being, enhancing physical rest, and priming the mind to understand and seek inner peace. More experienced meditators can use this state to insert the method of their choice for expedited expansion and increased awareness.

Please bring your own paper/notebooks/pen/pencils, etc. for taking notes during and after the group session.

Cost: $12 in advance (by midnight of preceding day) or $20 at the door (no one turned away for lack of funds if space permits, just speak to me at least one day before). Advance payment can be via interac or paypal to the email address below, security question could be "what is this for?" and the answer would be "meetup" without quotation marks.

This includes 90 minutes of hypnosis consultation and facilitation roughly as follows:

-15 minutes of introductions and discussion of individual questions and obstacles/goals

-15 minutes of Hypnosis Q&A and discussion

-30 minutes of guided practice (i.e., group session)

-15 minutes concluding discussion

-printed worksheets for first-time attendees

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
