Our girl Stef has wanted to do this hike for awhile... It's in the Belcarra area and is a nice intermediate hike that is apparently far easier than the Grind. Rambling trail with lots of up and down...
Stef has done it once before so if you have any questions, feel free to post them. We can do a convoy out there if you like. We will meet at Trout Lake parking lot (The community centre parking lot) at 9.30am, leaving at 9.45am sharp. From there we will drive out. Please indicate in/update your RSVP whether you need a ride or can offer a ride from this location. If you’re offering, please let us know how many spaces you have in your vehicle. We’ll match people up with a driver at Trout Lake. Riders, please bring along some gas money to give to your kind driver. We'll include a brief stop at The parking lot at Heritage Mountain Shoppers Village on Ioco Rd at Ungless Way in Port Moody to ensure the group is still together.
For those people offering/needing rides from elsewhere, we’ll leave you to post comments and arrange this among yourselves.
For those folks meeting us at the start of the trail, we’ll meet by the covered picnic area, next to the main parking lot at 11am, departing shortly afterwards.
If you need to get a hold of me,[masked]-4357. If you have an Iphone or Android then the free "Twist" app does a nice job of scheduling convoys and showing where people are (with gps). I just need your cell number to add you to the convoy.
Whichever your method of getting there, it is highly recommended that you print and carry with you a set of directions to the trail head using Google Maps. Your destination should be entered as Belcarra Picnic Area, Belcarra Regional Park. We will do our best to keep the convoy together but can't be responsible for everyone getting there. We'll be starting the hike shortly after 11am. Latecomers not part of our convoy are welcome to try to catch up along the trail.
Bring good hiking shoes, water, and some lunch if you'd like. The hike leads us to a small beach looking out over Jug Island and Indian Arm, a great spot to hang out for a while, catch our breath and have a bite to eat.
Here is a link for more info... Please use this to familiarise yourself with the hike details.
After the hike we'll be driving back down to Port Moody and would love you to join us for a beer at the St James' Well Pub in Newport Village. 248 Newport Drive.
Carry on with your bad self.
