Crokinole, Pandemic, Lords of Waterdeep, Memoir 44, Jamaica, 1960, Dice Town, Dixit, Tobago, Turfmaster, Ave Caesar, Railways of the World, Airlines Europe, Timeline, Hive, Tsuro of the Seas, 1775, Pastiche, Jambo, Lords of Vegas...I should probably stop now.
Even though my current favorite is ironically somewhat abstract, I gravitate more toward games with mechanics that fit their theme and are fun to play. Along the same lines, I like games that are easy to teach but still leave run for strategy and a little bit of luck.
Kingdom Builder, 7 Wonders, and a few others tied for third :-)
My obsession with modern board games began on August 21st, 2009 with the Settlers of Catan. 80+ games later, I haven't looked back. I'm always up for teaching new games and introducing new players to the hobby. If a game is fun, I probably own it.
