Over the past six months, we've met up all over London and had fascinating conversations, some of which have led to new collaborations, exploring the overlap between the world of social media, internet and mobile technology and the world of international development, appropriate tech and the future of the NGO.

For our next get together, we're going back to the UK headquarters of Akvo.org in Bermondsey, for a summer party. We'll be taking over the yard and the railway arches behind their office for the evening.

This will be a more laid back occasion than our usual meetups, with music, beer and food, so it's a good opportunity to bring along new people - and a chance to talk informally about where we go next with the network that's grown up around GlueSniffers. (And even whether it's time to choose a less ridiculous name!)

Vinay, Mark and I have some interesting ideas about what we could do together over the next year - and we hope you do, too. Look forward to seeing you all.

Coming in the wake of the G20 summit in London, our April meetup will focus on technology and development in a time of global economic crisis:

How is the crisis changing the landscape for ICT and for appropriate development?
What trends are we likely to see in technology in a context of economic contraction?
Are there new possibilities for working together to create practical solutions against this background?

This meetup is organised by Akvo.org and schoolofeverything.com. The idea is to put people with tech skills and startup experience in the same room as people with knowledge and experience in the field of appropriate development. The aim is to share ideas, but also to lead to practical projects and collaborations.
