For the first time in its history the IEAA is going to be holding Elections. There are three positions open on the IEAA’s six-person board. Voting will occur on July 27 and 28. In order to vote you must be a member of the group on Meeetup.com.
If you would like to run for election, please send a brief (one-page maximum) candidacy statement to Justin Nelson at [masked] or contact him through Facebook or Meetup. Please also include your full name and address. Duties of an Officer of the IEAA include the following:
1. You will encourage and promote cooperation among all organizers and members of the group.
2.You will not engage in personal insults, name-calling, or rude behavior, and understand that such actions will result in termination from the board.
3.You will assist in making IEAA meetings a safe space for discussion and debate.
4. You will plan, organize, and prepare for events in conjunction with the other board members.
5. You may be required to plan and run events on your own.
6. You will help encourage members to run events and provide guidance in event planning to help them have successful events.
7.You attest that you are willing to have your name published in conjunction with the IEAA, and are willing to act as a public face for disbelief.
Nominations are due by Sunday July 21. Event times and candidate information will be posted on Facebook and Meetup.com. Voting locations are:
On Saturday the 27th a voting box will be located at Klatch Coffee, 8916 Foothill Blvd, Rancho Cucamonga from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Sunday the 28th a voting box will be located at Back to the Grind, 3575 University Ave, Riverside, from 1 to 4 p.m.
On Sunday the 28th a voting box will be at “High Desert Coffee and Conversation” located at McDonald's, 19200 Bear Valley Road, Apple Valley, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Ballots and candidate statements will be available on location.
Candidates will be divided into three districts in order to represent all voices in the IE. These districts are:
District 1: West of the I-15, and below the San Gabriel Mountains
District 2: East of the I-15, and south of the Riverside/San Bernardino county line.
District 3: East of the I-15, north of the Riverside/San Bernardino county line, and including the High Desert.
Only one candidate may be elected from each district. All members may vote for all three positions no matter where their personal residence is located.
