"Sunday Assembly" A Godless Service Coming to LA

Sunday Assembly is a church for atheists. It was formed recently by 2 British comedians, who will be present at the event. There are congregations throughout the world, in England, Australia, NY City, etc. "Services" consist of sermon-like speakers, readings, and singing (e.g. “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder). One of the founders stated that one of the church's draws is the fun had by the congregation: “we like to say it’s entertaining but not entertainment.” From The Daily Beast, 21 Sept. 2013, “it has all of the community spirit, engagement, and inspiration of a church without any religious aspects.” (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/09/21/sunday-assembly-is-the-hot-new-atheist-church.html)
The location of the service is yet to be determined, because demand has been greater than expected. Free tickets must be procured from Sunday Assembly : https://sundayassemblyla.eventbrite.com/ .
The service will start at 11:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM. IEAA Members will afterwards meet for lunch near the location of the service.

Some updated info from sundayassembly.com regarding the recently announced venue : "There are over 100 free parking spaces on site, all available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also plentiful free street parking on Sundays, but please allow time for a short walk. We're encouraging carpooling, public transportation and patience."

This following bit of news will not affect this Meetup event because all Tina and I wanted to do was to draw attention to the "Sunday Assembly" event, to assemble a group of IEAA'ers for carpooling to Los Angeles, and to meet as a group for lunch after the event. As it turns out, Tina and I will not be able to attend because we will be out of town visiting our first-born grandchild. We are sorry if this inconveniences anyone. If someone else would like to take over as Event Host, I would appreciate it. (I'm not sure if I can RSVP negatively as the Event Host; I'll try and see what happens.)
This Web page can still be used to post interest in carpooling and meeting for lunch.
    Thanks for your understanding.
