How did you learn about this group? Examples: web search, saw a t-shirt or bumper sticker, etc.

Online Search for people in the high desert that have gone through the same thing or need to break free. It can be a very horrific thing to do because when everything in life is built upon a foundation of lies and dogma so thick it creates a serious underlying mental condition. Change dosnt happen fast but once it gets going its like a tectonic plate, it wont stop and will come crashing into anything in the way.

How do you identify yourself? Atheist, agnostic, humanist, bright, etc.

Secular Humanist

What do you hope to get out of this group?

Meeting and getting to know people. Trying to continue digging out of the rut cause by christanity. It would have been best if i never was to begin with. I still havnt reach the happy, content stage of atheism. I battle everyday in my heart and see christians defending the undefensable. People run from reality into anything else to take a way the pain. I hope to solidify my self and meet people who have gone through the same, or finding solid ground with those who never had to go through all the shit. I suck socially now and still have a difficult time. Thanks to Dr. Bart Eahrman and Sam Harris they are an inspiration, as well as The Atheist Experience TV show. The high desert is full of big box churches where i knowmany folks who go. I continue to them as being a lost sheep. I hope to build my relationships strong with my new friends so i can tear down whats left of the walls from the prison of religion in my life.

Introduction

Im a singer/songwriter. I play drums and have 2 CD's out. I grew up in the church and went to chriistian school. I was indoctrinated young as a christian and broke free about 4 years ago some 35 years of christianity. Im learning to help other folks.

What Kevin L B. is saying about this Meetup Group

For my first group meeting I was pleased to find an instant frindship with true genuine people, not hiding behind the mask of dogma. Reason and evidence prevailed once again. thanks for this group in the high desert. Its local and the High Desert needs this badly. The population has grown tremendously and people who are atheist, agnostic, skeptic, freethinking need a support system in the desert cities.
