How did you learn about this group? Examples: web search, saw a t-shirt or bumper sticker, etc.

Web search prior to relocating to Riverside.

How do you identify yourself? Atheist, agnostic, humanist, bright, etc.

Mostly atheist, but also humanist, freethinker, nontheist. Never agnostic, because I know there is no entity who is both all powerful and all good.

What do you hope to get out of this group?

I hope to have the company of like-minded people. I enjoy the activities that the group provides.

Introduction

I was a devout Christian (Church of Christ) in my early years. I became an atheist just before my senior year in high school (in a small Ohio town). Losing my religion was so traumatic. I wish I had had access to books and groups like this then!

What Pat is saying about this Meetup Group

I'm repeating myself...but I've found IEAA to be an awesome group! It's always good to be in the company of people who won't pray for my salvation. Furthermore, I'm finding that the members are caring, accomplished, insightful individuals. I'm so glad I found IEAA!
