Monthly Brown Bag Lunch & Learn: Bright Pink, teaching proactive health care

Come join us for an educational presentation from Lindsay Avner of Bright Pink about how women can be proactive with their breast and ovarian health to prevent cancer.

Lindsay Avner is the Founder and CEO of Bright Pink, the only national non-profit organization that is exclusively focused on both prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women and providing support for those at high risk. In 2005, following graduation from the University of Michigan, Lindsay tested positive for a BRCA1 mutation, indicating she had a lifetime risk of up to 87 percent of developing breast cancer. Through her experience, Lindsay recognized the lack of resources for young women at high risk for breast cancer. After honing her marketing skills while working in brand management at Unilever, Lindsay founded Bright Pink in January 2007, spearheading a national movement to educate and empower young women to know their breast cancer risk and be proactive advocates for their health. Lindsay is a nationally recognized speaker on engaging young women in the fight against breast cancer. More information: BrightPink.org.

This is our monthly meeting of the Downtown IFBW local chapter.  People bring their lunches to eat while a guest speaker talks with us about a career, life or global women's issue.

The women that attend are always amazing so bring your business cards to exchange with them.

These meetings are free for official IFBW members and we charge all others $2 to attend.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
