The Independent Investigations Group DC (IIG DC) investigates fringe science, paranormal and extraordinary claims from a rational, scientific viewpoint, and disseminates factual information about such inquiries to the public.
Investigations we perform begin with accumulation and analysis of facts, as best as they can be ascertained and gathered without bias. With facts in hand we attempt to look for a hypothesis that explains the facts and does not contradict known scientific theory. Then, we try to prove ourselves wrong. If we succeed, we modify the hypothesis and go at it again. and again, if need be. This is the scientific method. We are not ghost hunters or cryptozoologists, per se. Since they pre-suppose the existence of something for which there is no evidence or established theoretical basis.
IIG DC meets the fourth Saturday of every month at most, preferring to meet when there is purpose to the gathering.
Our public home on the web can be found at iigdc.org
IIG DC is an affiliate of the Center for Inquiry–DC.
All events are crosslisted with the Center for Inquiry–DC website, Convio, Facebook, and other sites, so RSVPs on this site constitute a minority of RSVPs .
I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
