INFORMS Maryland Message Board › What you need to participated in the hands-on part of our meeting...
Hey! We hope you are still planning to join us on Wednesday night at 6:30p. As you may already be aware, one of the main ideas about our INFORMS Learn. Network. Do. activity is that you'll get the opportunity to get a little hands-on training from our speakers. After the Learn. and Do. sections, Harlan [principally] and Alan will help you download from github the codebase and dataset they used to do their analysis. Then they'll walk through the code line-by-line and let you solve the problem along with them on your own laptop while you're there. If you need help, no problem, that's what it's for. All experience levels are welcome!
In order to participate, you'll need a couple things:
1) a laptop
2) wi-fi capability
3) a fairly recent version of R
4) R-Studio (requires R be installed beforehand)
5) the following R libraries: ggplot2, zipcode, ggmap, mapproj, DEoptim (if you need help getting these installed, we can show you what to do, but it's best to have them installed up front)
That's it! We can't wait to see you.
Vice President, INFORMS Maryland
