Join our DC startup team for an informal lunch discussion led by two experienced patent practitioners. This interactive conversation will focus on whether it makes sense for high-tech startup companies to pursue patent protection, and how to avoid common pitfalls. Topic of Interest: Pro Bono Patent Prosecution

    We have received a number of inquiries about the Patent and Trademark Office Pro Bono Program. It does exist, and if you qualify, is a great way to get assistance in seeking patent protection.

    The PTO Pro Bono Program is available in DC, Virginia, and Maryland through the Federal Circuit Bar Association, which also acts as a clearinghouse for programs in other states. To qualify, most programs require that the applicant’s gross household income be limited to 300% of the poverty level. Example 1 - a single person could have an income of up to $35,010 (3 times the current single person poverty level of $11,670);
    Example 2 - a family of 4 could have a gross income of up to $71,550 (3 times the current family of 4 poverty level of $23,850).

    To apply, go to http://www.fedcirbar.org/olc/pub/LVFC/cpages/misc/pto.jsp.

    Or contact me for more information. [masked].

    Sorry I missed this~
    Would love to hear from anyone with experience developing an app - and the IP concerns surrounding sharing your ideas with developers, etc. (similar to Charlotte's question).

    Hello, all. I'm very disappointed that I wasn't able to make it to the event yesterday. I'm the owner of a web-based law tech start-up. I currently have a provisional patent but am seeking to file the utility patent by March 15. I welcome leads from the group on possible attorneys or IP clinics who can help in a crunch. Thanks!

      As an animation company, I have to be very protective of our stories and characters we are developing and I feel that I understand copyright issues. However, we are now venturing into software development and while I understand that "ideas" can't be protected, how to you venture into development when you HAVE to share your unique idea?
