From ideas to publication: author's stories about their own journeys

Our meetings start with everyone introducing themselves and their authoring projects. We celebrate their recent successes, and applaud their upcoming promotional opportunities, such as book signings, launches, media interviews etc. Everyone also has an opportunity to ask for help from anyone present, and from any of their extensive contacts in the writing, editing, book design, publishing, printing and promotion communities.

Then we invite our featured speaker(s) to share their knowledge and experience with our members, guests and visitors. This meeting will feature 3 or 4 of our members telling the story of how they came to write their books, their experiences of getting it published, and what's happened to it (and them) since. The authors who have agreed to come and share their stories are listed below.

This is always a popular meeting format and we look forward to welcoming you on May 25th. Lots to learn, always entertaining, and your active participation is always welcome!

The $20 meeting fee ($25 for non-members and guests) includes the full breakfast, which is served from 8:30 a.m.

John Warner completed his first novel in 1967 as a “Canada Centennial Project”.  As a keen writer, he later dabbled in various forms, but a 46-year career as a pilot and aviation manager interfered with serious writing. By 2005 he had authored “Emperor of the East Slope”, an Alberta Action Family Saga. “Golden Quest” is an Action Thriller that won second place in category in the 2008 U.S.  Premier Book Awards. A movie script has been produced from the novel. An acknowledged “failure” at retirement, he currently works as an aviation consultant for a major oil company.
