Phillips After 5 - Enjoy art, eat, drink and mingle!

Welcome to attend ' Phillips after 5' event with a lively mix of art and entertainment, including live music, food, and cash bar, on the first Thursday of the month. Every month is a different theme and on Thursday, May 1st, the theme will be the Prohibition Era of the 1920's! 


Party like it's Prohibition during the American '20s. Sample bootleg-inspired food and drink. Complete a museum-wide scavenger hunt to reveal the password and access to a secret speakeasy!

Beer Tasting
Sample Capitol City Brewing Company’s Prohibition Porter, Pale Rider Ale and Amber Waves Ale. 

5:30–8 PM

Enjoy the swinging sounds of The Redwine Jazz Band performing classic songs from the 1920s. Featuring clarinetist Ben Redwine, guitarist Tom Mitchell, and bassist John Previti.

6:30 PM

Book Talk & Signing
Historian Garrett Peck, author of Prohibition in Washington DC: How Dry We Weren’t and Capital Beer: A Heady History of Brewing in Washington, DC, discusses prohibition in Washington, DC during the 1920s.

15-minute focused discussions about American art in the 1920s.

This is sure to be a fun evening - check out art, eat, drink and mingle! This gallery is very close to the Dupont Circle metro station.
