New to SharePoint? Then this presentation is for you! We will first start out learning the basics and getting an overview of the entire landscape of a SharePoint site - Courtesy of Robert Scarborough and Plurasight...
Then, Max Yermakhanov will start a "build-your-own SharePoint properly" presentation designed for those users who have the responsibility to manage and customize SharePoint sites and site collections. Max will build an intranet SharePoint 2013 environment from scratch and cover every major SharePoint concept that you need to know in order to setup your SharePoint environment. In accordance with best/good practices, of course. We will start with a SharePoint install, create a SharePoint farm, web application, site collection, and service applications. Then, we'll create sites, subsites, add features/solutions, content pages, wiki pages, lists and document libraries, etc. Finally we will talk how to secure sites, lists, libraries and the content within lists and libraries using the permission and security infrastructure in SharePoint.
You will also be introduced to SharePoint Features and how to leverage them to provide additional plug-in like functionality to SharePoint sites and site collections. Site collection administrators will also learn how to create and customize content within SharePoint sites using content pages, wiki pages, Web Parts lists and document libraries. In addition you will also learn how to effectively manage search and leverage the new SharePoint metadata tagging capabilities.
This presentation is for anyone who has little to no experience with SharePoint. This includes a wide range of users including site administrators, project managers, power users, Web masters and anyone else who will serve in the role of managing sites and site collections. So, come on over... let's build some SharePoint!
