White River Afternoon Paddle from Hazel Landing Park to Broadripple Park

Here's a leisurely afternoon paddle for those who can make it on a weekday afternoon.

We will meet at Hazel Landing Park to drop our boats and then run a vehicle or two down to Broadripple for the shuttle back.

This will probably be a short few hour trip (make that four hours) but maybe top it off with some food or drink or ice cream in Broadripple when we get off the water.

Come join us! It will probably be a very small group. Last time I did this trip there were just three of us, it was late November, and I was wearing my Santa hat and beard! HO! HO! HO!

:-)

Trip Difficulty: Easy

We couldn't have had a more beautiful day on the water! This trip was amazing. I had never been on White River...I'm still surprised that this lovely excursion is in our modest little city of Indianapolis! Always a good time with IYAKers. What a great group of folks! Kudos to Tina for suggesting this one and for Chuck for making it happen.

What a beautiful day on the water. Had a good time and met a lot of nice people. Thanks to all who carried my kayak to and from the water.

Nice trip, thanks Chuck. Next time, I'd stick to one meeting time, shuttle all the cars you can at the start of the trip. If one or two come late, then it is no big deal to shuttle them after.

Great time......one of my favorites ....thanks Chuck!

Chuck, if my name isn't mud after that Deer Creek trip- Emmy and I would like to paddle with y'all tomorrow. I will aim to be at Hazel Dell at 11:00. I can haul 2 or 3 boats and paddlers back at the end of the day. If you want to do the BR Park thing let me know. All I ask is that I not have to leave Emmy alone while we shuttle.

That is a pretty section of the White, you have bitten off a healthy length for a weekday. The level is down to Summer flow. Gonna be a long day. I think maybe we can keep up though!

If it helps Carla, there are several options for a shorter trip. We could leave her car near Keystone at the Crossing, for example.

Hi everyone. This will be my first trip with the group and I'm excited. I'm bringing my kayak in my pickup truck so I'll have extra room if it will help with the shuttling. I've had 3 kayaks in the truck no problem and could probably fit more if needed. See you in Carmel tomorrow.

I'm going to have to back out of this one. I wouldn't be back in time for my evening clients. Have a great paddle!!

    July 24, 2013

  • Vicki V.

Chuck, can you explain how the drop off of the cars at Broad Ripple would work? I am bringing my kayak in my pick-up truck. I am lost when trying to figure out how it will work.

  • Carla

    Chuck,
Can you break down the schedule for tomorrow? I have to make sure I can be back in time to see my evening clients. Is this a 5 hour paddle and what time can we really get on the water? Just don't want to get myself in a pickle! : )
