Disclaimer for the Idaho Hiking Club:

Your Safety Is Your Responsibility

The Idaho Hiking Club will try our best to have FUN and SAFE events and try to prevent accidents; however, ANY member, member’s family, and/or member’s guest, who attend ANY events hosted by the Idaho Hiking Club, agree that everyone is responsible for themselves. You agree that the organizers, event hosts, and/or other participants of the Idaho Hiking Club are not responsible or liable for the safety of any member, member’s family, member’s guest, and/or anyone’s pets. By you choosing to attend these events, you acknowledge this.

Even without your acknowledgement of this disclaimer, be aware that Meetup.com's terms of service agreement specifically says that members join any and all Meetups at their own risk and cannot hold Meetup.com or its organizers and other members liable for damages.

The Idaho Hiking Club makes every effort possible to publish accurate information of the events, hike distances, elevations, trail conditions, etc., to the best of our knowledge, however, the actual information CANNOT be guaranteed due to outdated maps, inaccurate published information, etc. The Idaho Hiking Club puts in a lot of hours and hard work to set up these VERY DETAILED events for you and one of our goals is to make sure everyone has a FUN and SAFE time on the events. The Idaho Hiking Club and its members are outdoor enthusiasts like yourself, we all are volunteers, no one gets paid. The Idaho Hiking Club is a mechanism for providing outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to participate with one another in recreational events.

As a member of the Idaho Hiking Club you are responsible for your own safety and we reserve the right to decline to hike with you if you show up unprepared. Prepared means more than just physical ability, it means having adequate equipment for the specific event posted. As a participating member you certify that you are responsible for having appropriate skills, physical conditioning, equipment and supplies to participate in the events hosted by the Idaho Hiking Club that you choose to attend.

As a member of the Idaho Hiking Club you agree and fully understand that outdoor activities can involve certain risks, hazards, and dangers that can cause or lead to you suffering serious bodily injury, property damage, illness, mental or emotional trauma, paralysis, disability and/or death to participant or others. Some of these risks, hazards and dangers include but not limited to: hazardous and unpredictable ground; water or exposure to severe weather conditions; encounters with dangerous animals; misjudgments made by organizers, event hosts, participants or others; travel in remote areas that can cause potential delays or difficulties with transportation, evacuation and medical care; equipment that can fail, malfunction or misuse of equipment by yourself and others; the potential that the participant or others (e.g. co-participant, driver, medical and rescue personnel) may act carelessly or recklessly. As a member of the Idaho Hiking Club, you agree to HEREBY: RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE AND COVENANT the Idaho Hiking Club and it’s leaders and/or participants in any activities or hold them in any way responsible for any injuries, incidents or other problems to you as described and stated hereof, which also includes your personal property and your vehicle.

Participation in Idaho Hiking Club’s activities is strictly voluntary and members assume all risks in connection with Idaho Hiking Club’s activities. Additionally, participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Furthermore, we reserve the right to update and make changes to this disclaimer at any time.
