Futures Planning - A Review of the Futurist Knowledge Domain

Join us for a new location and a new topic.

The topic will be the domain of planing for the future.  It is known as Futures Studies in some universities.  We will look over some books on the topic including How To Think Like A Futurist by local author Cecily Sommers.  I will also bring along the publication 2012: State of the Future published by The Millennium Project.  ( see www.StateOfTheFuture.org).

The Think Like A Futurist book provides a basic framework for futures planning along with the author's creative problem solving method known as the Zone Of Discovery.  The 2012 State of The Future book is a summary of the 15 Global Challenges the Millennium Project has been tracking for 20+ years.  I will have a couple of other "Futures" books as well.

The new location is a wonderful Bistro on Como Ave SW of the St Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota.  It is nicely lit with a bright, open setting.  The food ranges from sandwiches to soups and bakery goods.  There is a Dunn Bros. coffee house next door via an open atrium.

I look forward to a conversation about how futurists work and some of the issues facing our global society.  Please join us at The Finnish Bistro on Como Ave.

I will try to make it. I;ve been a forecaster for over 30 years. futurists usually use different methods than I do.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
