What kind of art do you do? Please provide a URL so people can get to know you and your work.

I am a painter; mostly in oils with some acrylic pieces. My work has two main branches . . . 1) portraits and figurative, and 2) abstracts drawing upon aquatic and plant forms. My portraits aim to paint the inner as well as the outer subject. They are not literal ('photographic') but are constructed to emphasize the inner spirit of the person. My abstract pieces are meditations that draw deeply from my subconscious. My current work in this vein is a reflection upon the nature of reality/realities -- of the sense that there are parallel existences that sometime contact, merge, and/or collide with each other. My art website is: My academic website is:

I was lucky enough to grow up in a home in which my mother was an artist and my father was a historian -- and thus I became both. I work for an agency in NYC and do adjunct teaching in history at Yale. I've made art all my life. Painting is my joy.
