Board Games & Beer Geeks Day!

Want to explore the board/card game hobby? Want to learn more about craft beer? Want to meet people happy to teach you board games? Come play games and drink beer with us! It is a very casual newbie-friendly group!

Is there a game you wish to learn? Do you wish to teach a game you love? Leave a comment on the meetup you're attending, so we can make sure it happens!

We play a wide range of modern board and card games as well as some classics. You could find Ticket to Ride, Flash Point, King of Tokyo, The Resistance, Dominion, Tokaido, 7 Wonders, and many more.

*IMPORTANT* This is a private room space, so we'd love it if you wanted to drink beer and enjoy food with us. It helps us keep this space available! Not a beer drinker? They've got a great selection of coffee beverages and draft rootbeer! Be sure to check out the board game selection at Card Kingdom while you are there!

I will miss this and the 3/17 meet-up due to work and GDC. Donna, you should bring Epic Spell Wars to GDC though. And speaking of Epic Spell Wars, we've been playing it wrong! There are two rules we've been playing incorrectly. First is how to deal with ties when the target is strongest/weakest foe or stronger/weaker foe. These spells are only ever meant to target a single foe. In the case of multiple foes meeting the target criteria, the caster is supposed to choose one. The second rule we've missed is dead wizard cards. You're supposed to get one when you die, AND an additional one each time a round starts that you're dead. So, if you die very early, you can start the next game with multiple advantages over your foes. It will be interesting to see if this changes the dynamics. The games will last longer. If the group picks on someone early, that person will be extra powerful in the next game. You'll have a better chance of casting powerful spells in the first round.

OOh, I like this. I've definitely missed these rules. I've noticed a lot more games of ESW which have people playing 2 or 1 card way too early in the game. This would balance that out, as you would get a benefit for playing 3 cards early on, in case you get bumped out.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
