March ILSC Meetup

Greetings Sports Fans!

We're back at Developer Town, so put your lean shoes on and get ready for a good time.

We'll start with some lightning talks about tools and tactics for "Getting to Plan A" -- that is, from idea to first experiment. So far, the following topics are on the docket:

  • A brief overview of paper prototyping (Kyle Shipley)
  • LeanCanvas.com (Frank Dale)
  • Mixpanel, a metrics tool (Matt De Leon)
  • "Microniche" businesses (Tony Dewan)
  • Kanban (Wes Winham)
  • Landing pages / Unbounce (Anthony Panozzo)
  • Customer Interview Tips (Alan Steckley)

If you want to ride the lightning, send me an email at [masked] with your suggested topic. Limit 5 minutes, but shorter is fine too.

Matt De Leon will then talk about SquareJive, a startup he's helping launch through Developer Town using LEAN TACTICS™. They're still pretty early in the process, but he'll talk about the metrics they're currently collecting and some early customer interview results.

As always, there will be pizza and soft drinks. If there are specific topics or activities you'd like to see at a future event, identify your favorite organizer over there on the left and send them a strongly worded Candygram®. (Email acceptable.)

A great deal of good info with multiple speakers using five to ten minutes, each. Good participation and exchanges between the audience and speakers !

I enjoyed hearing about the various Lean Tools that are being used. This is great stuff! I look forward to sharing my knowledge of Lean to the group so that you can maximize the tools to your advantage.

I liked the lightning talk format a lot, although I think we still need to keep a tighter hold on time. Overall, my favorite event so far!

I thought the lightning talks were a good format for exploring some tools and kept things moving quickly. Would like to see more people present at the next one. Also enjoyed hearing Matt's talk about SquareJive analytics and appreciated the focus on what he learned as opposed to in-depth business model discussion. Also enjoyed the discussion before and after the event.

I liked the meeting space at http://www.developertown.com and appreciate the many presentations for what they taught us about lean methodologies.

Great Meetup. Lot's of new and interesting concepts to some of us non-developer type people.

A little less organized than I expected, but still a good meeting. Looking forward to more in the future.

Some other possible lightning talk topics:

    1. AdWords
    2. Google Analytics
    3. Social media marketing
    4. Your process for choosing ideas
    5. "Microniche" businesses
    6. Kanban
    7. Rapid overview of lean software development

    ...or your favorite applicable topic!

Send me, Kyle Shipley, an email if you want to be part of the solution and not part of the precipitate. #sciencejoke #groan

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
