Good morning cafèrinos!
We've decided on a short notice trek to Cafe Belong @ the brickworks on Bayview Ave this Sunday. The site looks really interesting and affords for a nice walk through the ponds afterwards. We are hiking there from our home near Cabbage town through the Riverdale ravine, which contains many a footpath but hopefully no bears, rabid foxes or highway men. We will meet at 'Cafe Belong' in the Brickworks @ 11am. The weather looks perfect for the occasion and hopefully will stay that way so we can sit and sprawl on the patio and make oo-ahh sounds.
This is what wikipedia has to say about the brickworks:
The Don Valley Brick Works, also known as Evergreen Brick Works, is a former quarry and industrial site located in the Don River valley in Toronto, Canada. The Don Valley Brick Works operated for nearly 100 years and provided bricks used to construct many well-known Toronto landmarks, such as Casa Loma, Osgoode Hall, Massey Hall, and the Ontario Legislature. Since the closure of the original factory, the quarry has been converted into a city park which includes a series of naturalized ponds, while the buildings have been restored and opened as an environmentally-focused community and cultural centre by Evergreen, a national charity dedicated to restoring nature in urban environments.
