We’re indie-rock fans and musicians, under 25, mostly high-school students, who can't get into the 19+ shows but are still wanting to get in on the scene.
This meet-up group is just starting up, and will take some time to grow into a large enough group to make a real impact on the all-ages indie-rock scene in Toronto. Now that the school year is under way, we are really kicking into gear, as more indie-rock shows and events occur throughout this fall season.

An indie-rock meet-up group
… run by teens, for teens.
to discover and share new indie-rock music,
to discover and attend live indie-rock events,
to bring together fans of indie-rock,
and to connect indie-rock musicians.
The Indie-Rock Scene is just exploding – with Arcade Fire, a Canadian band, winning the 2011 Grammy for Best new album of the year, plus taking ‘Best International Album’ and ‘Best International Group’ at the BRIT Music Awards, trumping all the mainstream music. Toronto is a great center for the indie-rock music scene, with bands like Broken Social Scene already soaring with international recognition, and others now taking off… like Hooded Fang.
Discover New Music: We’re constantly finding and following new and extraordinary bands and sharing our discoveries at meet-ups. So far we’re following bands such as Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Cut Copy, Washed Out, Stars, Oasis, The Kooks, MGMT, Cults, Metric, The Black Keys, The Shins, Two Door Cinema Club, Girls, The Explorer's Club, Mother Mother, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Fast Romantics, Braids, Freelance Whales, Mumford & Sons, Foster the People, Jukebox the Ghost, and Hooded Fang.
We’re creating a social network through which this music flows, where people can reach out and find new music and share the music they love with others. Our meet-ups are awesome musical happenings.
All-Ages Indie-Rock Shows: We bring the youth crowd to indie-rock shows all around town, so bring your friends and join us. If we get enough people coming out, then we make it worthwhile for the venues to open more shows to all-ages. As our membership increases, we will organize our own all-ages events at night with local indie-bands, and we will book our own venues that will spin indie music all night for our membership. Rumor has it… the original members of Where’s Fluffy? are playing at the first meet up. We also heard they are as hard to track down as their renowned last gig in NYC.
Indie Musicians: We organize afternoon open- mic sessions for indie musicians to jam together, to sit in with other local indie bands… often just to try stuff out and see what happens. Fans are welcome to witness the ebb and flow of creation, and are asked not to throw hard objects or food when the music goes awry as it often does when searching for those magical moments of pure inspiration that indie rock is made of.
Volunteers: Currently, we’re looking for girls and guys to help run these events, coordinate the membership, and organize the jam sessions. We’re also looking for representatives in each high-school around town to be the head of divisions of this group, enrolling members and keeping everybody up to date. Also, we’re always looking for more connections into the music scene… Do you know anyone who plays in Vampire Weekend, or Cut Copy, or Arcade Fire? Do you know anyone who is in the music biz, maybe someone who owns a club in Toronto? Let us know and you can lead us there.
