Focus Group: Advance Portraiture Focus Group (closed group)

Please only RSVP if you know that you are already a part of this group.

Reference:  Either email sent on March 24 (11:51 pm); or March 25 (1:17 am)

At last meeting, we agreed on the following:

1.  Change name to: Advanced Portraiture Focus Group

2.  Will meet once a month - 3rd Monday of each month

3.  Next meeting:  April 15 at 6:30 pm

Agenda

a.  Easy Setups with 1, 2, or 3 lights (from March Popular Photography magazine).

(I will bring copies if you do not have this.)

b.  Be prepared to discuss needed equipment.  (I purchased a downloadable video,

"Mastering Studio Strobe Lighting".  I have it downloaded on the laptop and will show

this if time allows.   I viewed part of it this evening and was impressed with what I

      saw.

c.   From previous meeting, it was suggested that we bring in a photo (portrait) from a

magazine, web, etc. that we really liked and would attempt to simulate the light in

it.    I found the photo above and would like for us to try to duplicate it.

d.  Further discuss processes for new Portraiture Focus Group, Entry Level", which will

have heir first meeting on May 6.   Those meetings will be roughly 2 weeks apart

     from this meeting...being the 1st Monday of each month...at 6:3 p.m.

e.  List "other" studio(s) where you would like to consider for a field trip.

Some of you haven't been to a meeting for a while, hope to see you back with us...

Was there a certain skill level that was used to determine the members selected ?

To get members prepared for the Entry Level, Greg and other leaders within our membership are offering educational classes (4th Thursday) in areas they feel are of importance for this.
I mentioned before that "attendance" was important. It is! Because with 10 or so people, you have a lot of creativity and subjects to draw on. With just 2 or 3...it's sometimes difficult. So, yes in the "Advanced" group, we want those who know what they're doing... and "advancing". A big part of the annual dues this year will go toward some type equipment for this group. Realizing that this type equipment is not cheap...only a small amount can be purchased...but each year, going forward, at least 50% of the dues money will go toward building up the equipment needs.

Members can bring their own equipment to supplement anything here, but it is hoped that in time...members will not have to carry their equipment to/from meetings in order to have a productive meeting.
Several members of the club enjoyed a free Open House at FocusOn Studio in Carmel over the winter months. Each of these groups will have an opportunity to take part in that (and possibly other) studios once we get to moving. There may be some small type charge when that happens as rental of those type places are not cheap....but members will not have to pay any full fare. Hope all this helps Geoff! And, we hope to see you in the meeting!!!

M, This group is a "closed group". We'd love to get you in this group, but are only accepting for the newly to be formed group "Entry Level" at this time. Some members of that new group will be given the opportunity to move over into this first group (Advanced Portraiture) after the first couple meetings. Hope we can see you in that group, as it will be very similar to this one..in time. Then, you will have the option of going to either of the meetings (or both)...and not just one. But, in the beginning, we expect everyone wanting to get into this to start in this new group (the Entry Level). FYI, we couldn't think of a better name to call it, but we realize that some who will start there, ae way beyond "entry level" experience and skill.
