EDUCATION: Jewelry Photography (Small tent) Fishing gear & small frogs are ok!

Jewelry Photography

We'll be practicing a lot with this as we'll have anywhere from 1 to 3 or 4 tents set up (depending on number in attendance) with groups of 2-4/tent.  One tent will be for jewelry that one of our members (who makes/sells jewelry) plans to use for her marketing campaign.

This is an area we have not ventured into; so, this should be both interesting and fun!

If you have a tent (or some other structure for this type photography) and/or some of your own jewelry you'd like to bring, please bring it.   I was told that pocket watches are fun to photograph!!!  I would like us to also create a tent from some of the Styrofoam I have at the Attic (old packing stuff) and duct tape...to see how that homemade product compares with a modern purchased tent.   Below, the picture shows you about how "simple" we could go!

PS: I was kidding about the frogs...but, if they are somewhat sedated, they might be ok.

This was a learning experience! I need to pay close attention to the fundamentals. Rock solid tripod, Manual exposure, Remote release. Oh, and f/11 if I want enough DoF to cover everything. I had fun and learned a lot.

Sorry I had to bail early tonight. The heat was making me quite sick. I only made it about a block away before I had to pull over & lost my lunch.

Carol, did you still want me to bring a model or two? Or should we do that a different time? I will still bring my box tent and jewelry pieces.

We're not focusing on models at this meeting. Just the close-ups of jewelry in tent-containers, etc. Plus...other items if members bring some of their own items that will be tent worthy.

I bought a small tent w 2 lights today. It didn't have lights, but says it can use up to 125 w each. I have a couple boxes of 55 and 70 w each that I had purchased for the Portraitufe FG's use. Can I assume these bulbs, which fit, would work? Be ok?

    I don't think they're talking about 125 w like I use in a reading lamp...???
