For four bucks and the cost of printing and a solid mounting board this contest is a no brainer if you can get out to Greenfield (or live there like me :) ). I entered 4 prints last year but my work in general doesn't appear to have been to the taste of the judges (I shoot mostly motorsports and air shows), this year I'll be entering more architectural/landscape "art" photography that I do on occasion. I entered and volunteered last year so if anyone has questions I can try my best to answer, or Sue Berard the organizer is very nice and helpful as well, her contact info is in the rules sheet.

Chris Williams emailed me early on that he and his wife are hosting this event. You (anyone) can contact him for questions. I'm sure they are working along with Ms. Berard...and Chris also confirmed that "no" frames required. See the "rules" he gave me above...

We're hosting just a few hours on Friday. There are lots of others volunteering too. Any questions should be directed to Sue Berard.

Good to know! The form i read says "framed." i double checked with the organizer and specifically mentioned PHOTOGRAPHS Here is her response.: Nicole. The rules do say that the art needs to be framed . You are welcome to bring it in for display if you wish. Children can bring in 4 pieces of art also.
I hope you do bring some of your work to the festival .
Any other questions just email me at

I'm not sure who dwanstrath is but Sue Berard is running the contest (and did last year as well) and the rules (#6) specifically state no frames, I can't imagine that's changed without it being clearly changed in the rules. It's possible since "prints" are part of the fine arts show one could enter a photo over there, in which case you'd need to follow their rules I guess?

I plan on entering something however, entries have to be framed this year. My kids are also going to enter art work.

I just read the entry rules Nicole and it says prints must be matted and a top mat is acceptable, but it says no framed photos will be accepted. Sounds the same as the State Fair.

Photographs are not to be framed. I think framing only applies to paintings.

Nicole, I'm not the expert on that. You may want to direct this to Chris Williams. I thought that I read that they don't have to be...but maybe that is the difference between an amateur and a professional photo...but I only quickly scanned the rules. Go to the link and see what it says. If still not clear, check in with Chris. He and his wife are hosting and I feel certain Christ will be entering something.

I'm planning to go, so I'll look for your works!!!
