Photoshop for Beginners
Eventually, this will become a Focus Group for all Post-Processing. When a poll was taken several months ago, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Elements...were the top three requested. Photoshop won out...but...we don't want to leave others out.
Most members in this group are learning Photoshop basics (using various versions of PS on their computers). Some members of the group have Elements, some Lightroom, and a few "other applications". We've gotten off the ground...but are still moving slow to make sure everyone understands and all can achieve basically the same end result...with whatever tool is available on their program. Bring your laptop and an extension cord (we may not have enough to go around). If you don't have Photoshop, we'll see what your program does have to accomplish the same end result.
Photoshop is what we will stay with as our base program. In the not-to-far future, we'll be taking all this post-processing to another level...and call it "Photo-Art/Photo-Graphics". Yes, we will continue on with our post-processing and Eric will continue to lead our groups...but we'll bring in Loren Elks, Jim Wallace, and John Loban (all graphic artists in their own fields) and they will help us take this to a higher level.
If there is enough interest shown, we could branch into a focus group for "just" Photo-Art/Photo-Graphics...or have it as a part of the Post-Processing. Those decisions will be decided as we move forward and we can see the amount of interest shown.
Critiquing, which is a part of post-processing and other groups, might be a part of one of our occasional monthly educational meetings. Again, only time can tell exactly where that will go.
As far as teaching these, each program will be taught/led...slow and with a lot of patience... for those who need it. We will not rush anything.
Eric Scott Miller has very graciously offered to work with us to get us up and running; then to carry us on with a lot of fun and exciting classes. He will be posting on the Facebook IMUPC page site from time to time.
A variety of media will be used: videos, handouts, tutorials, etc. , etc. Everyone is expected to bring their own laptop. The Focus Room is set up with U-verse and will accomodate up to 20 max at 5 tables (4/table). But, it is preferred if we hit 15, that we move to the Down Under, where we will have more space.
We meet every other Tuesday evening at 7 pm for 90 minutes in the Focus Room of the Attic....or the Down Under of the Propylaeum (if 15 or more in attendance).

In the meantime, go to the Facebook page (IMUPC) and check out: Photoshop Roadmap: https://www.facebook.com/photoshoproadmap and a variety of other tutorials being found to help and inspire.
