FOCUS GROUP: Portraiture

PORTRAITURE Focus Group(s)

This focus group is still being developed as you probably have noticed.  We had hoped to use the United Methodist Church at 38th & Meridian, but after a long snowy winter, that option changed.  Most of our meeting will now take place at the Athenaeum in the Max Kade room...or the room across the hall from there.

We have not gotten started with the theater at the Athenaeum yet...but that is on the horizon and will happen in time.  Soon I hope!  I've briefly talked with the director, and we do want this to happen...but that is about as far as we've gotten re formalizing anything.

Chris Williams will be leading the Portraiture groups, assisted by Tim Biddle and Eric Scott Miller.  All are excellent photographers.  They will trade off the lead position or assist each other...all depending on their personal calendars.  Several of you have indicated a desire to help in a variety of ways; please be sure Chris , Tim, and Eric have your name and contact information if so and if there is something specific you would like to help with.  There could be times that none of the above can make a meeting...and if you'd be willing to lead the group...let them know.  A good video on one of those type night's would be welcomed.  We have some at the Attic!  Or, a good walk around the area...or the facility!!!

Now that Chris is going to be back with us, our hopes are that we can start making progress toward the stage crew at the Athenaeum.  Let us know, too, if you have a special interest or concern re this...

If you are aware of another location that we could use to provide us variety, please let us know.  Right now, we're mostly meeting at the Athenaeum  (Max Kade room) on the first and third Thursday evening and/or venturing into the Mass Ave, downtown, and Old Northside areas.

If you are interested in attending any of these meetings be aware that these are for both beginner and advanced members.  This club does not (and will not) differentiate between those who have (or do not have) equipment and/or skill levels that exceed others.  This is a learning and social time for ALL club members.

The mission of this club is that thru a sharing, supportive, and cultural platform, the proficiency level of its members will automatically be raised. To what extent, will depend on the amount of time each individual member wishes to invest and exert themselves.  Our leaders are excellent, so it's up to you!

Know that portraiture photography does not STOP in a studio setting with a backdrop and a couple bright lights.  There is so, soooo, much more.  So, it's these "much mores" that we want to discover and explore.   We hope that those who want to learn the basics will get that opportunity, and those who want the "much mores" will also get that opportunity...side by side!  Your friendly and creative ideas are always welcomed!

Carol

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
