State Fair Balloon Launch

Extending an invite to IMUPC members to attend Friday morning's balloon launch at the Indiana State Fair. I have included the blog entry from our website below for your reference. Hope you can make it!

We’re bringing back IPC Social Shoots beginning this Friday, August 1st at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Join IPC students, staff and friends bright and early on Friday morning for the annual Balloon Launch that opens the Indiana State Fair. We will meet at the Fairgrounds Infield to shoot the balloon launch, which begins at sunrise (approximately 6:15 a.m.).

As a special treat, IPC instructor Mike Washington will provide a brief speedlighting demonstration that uses the hot air balloon launch as a unique portrait backdrop.

Gates to the Fairgrounds open at 6 a.m. on Friday, so be sure to arrive early so that you can get parked and to the Infield in time for the launch. Gate #6 (off of Fall Creek), #1A (off of of 38th Street) and Gate #12 (park at the Deaf School and walk in) are all open at 6 a.m. Meet in the Infield where the launch takes place. Look for the Indy Photo Coach sign.

Tickets to the Indiana State Fair are available at the Gates for $10 or in advance for $7 at WalMart and CVS. Advance tickets can also be purchased online (through Thursday) at

Afterwards, we will head to Cafe Patachou (4911 N Pennsylvania St, Indianapolis, IN 46205) for an early group breakfast. There is no charge to attend an IPC social shoot, but we do ask that you please RSVP ( so that we know to expect you, and so that we can provide a heads-up to Patachou about the number to expect at breakfast.Everyone is responsible for purchasing their own meal.
