The page says this is trial ware. Does anyone know if there is an expiration time to it, or is it just "limited access to features" until you pay for it?

A strong competitor to the likes of Adobe Photoshop Elements, this photography program normally sells for $100.

PhotoDirector 2011 has photo-editing features that rival those of pricier offerings from Adobe.

When it comes to freebie photo software, savvy users typically look to favorites like GIMP and Paint.net.
Those are great tools, no doubt about it, but why not score a commercial product if you can? Especially if you have the chance to get it for free?
For a limited time (the site says 98 days are left, but I suspect that's a mistake), Download Crew has CyberLink PhotoDirector 2011 (Win) free of charge. This program has a list price of $99.95.
PhotoDirector 2011 comes from the company behind PowerDirector, a top-rated video-editing tool. It's an all-in-one photography program for organizing, editing, enhancing, and sharing your digital pictures, one that compares with the likes of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Corel PaintShop Photo Pro.
Its features include white-balance correction, noise reduction, adjustment brushes, and other high-falutin' editing tools. Serious photographers will appreciate its support for raw files from the likes of Canon and Nikon dSLRs.
To get this no-strings-attached freebie, click the blue log-in button at the bottom of the promo page, or the Download button if you've already registered with Download Crew. If you haven't, you'll need to create an account, which is quick and harmless.
After downloading the program, click the blue Get Serial Code button to instantly receive your license number. (A copy will be sent via e-mail.) As with most such offers, you'll need to paste that code into the program in order to activate the full version.
I haven't used PhotoDirector myself, but here's what CNET's Jaymar Cabebe said in his review: "With its intuitive workflow and nondestructive editing environment, we think it's a great choice for beginners and intermediate users. Plus, with the possibilities furnished by the robust DirectorZone.com community, it might even work for more-advanced users as well."
I'm sure a few users will disagree, but I think an e-mail address (especially a disposable one) is a small price to pay for a $100 piece of software, one that CNET rated 4.5 stars out of 5.
