This is a reminder for those who have signed up; an announcement for those who have not RSVP'd yet; and a request for others in the club.
I have a very special request: I have only shared information with a select few in the club up to this point, but I think it is time to share the news with all members:
Bill Riggs, whom some of you may not know; for others of us, we know him well. About a week ago, I created a special Photo Folder in his name, and you probably wondered...
Bill has been a fairly long time member of our club (and other area photo clubs); he's a darn good and very committed photographers. So much so, that he was a part of development team for the original Portraiture Focus Group. He taught us studio lighting and shared many valuable lessons re posing. Bill also, was the first organizer for portrait studio at the Joy of All Who Sorrow Christmas event in December 2011. In addition, he was the lead photographer at the charitable Help-Portrait event in December 2011. That's not all... He and I worked together at another charitable event, the Handi-capable event in 2011, at which time he shared with me that he'd been helping with those for several years.
A few weeks a ago, Bill was admitted to Methodist Hospital with a diagnosis unknown and his condition as very critical. I received word today that he is much better...yet, a long road lies before him. He needs all our prayers and well wishes....
At the meeting Thursday evening (August 22) we will be printing some pictures of him on our new printer and placing them in frames. These will be taken to him and left in his room as a way to say that "we want him to get well quick".
I will prepare a homemade card (document) to go along with these. All who will be attending the meeting will be asked to sign; and anyone who happens to visit him, also will be asked to sign. I believe if he has those near, they will bring him good positive thoughts and help in his recovery process.
PS: If you want to be a part of this, and have not RSVP'd yet, please do so on the website calendar.
You can always get in touch with me through my group profile on Meetup.
