The Indianapolis Buddhist Meditation Group Weekly Meetup NEW FORMAT, NEW TIMES

  • Feb 23, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is no longer available

Welcome to our Buddhist Meditation Group in English. We meet weekly on Saturday mornings at the An Lac Temple in Indianapolis. The address is 5249 E. 30th Indianapolis, IN 46218. The An Lac Sangha has been around many years but their temple building is very new and just seeing it is an event in itself.

Come and discover the Dharma through the practice of skillful meditation. The meditations are in the Vietnamese Zen tradition. If you'd like more information on this tradition, the books Peace is Every Step and The Miracle of Mindfulness, both authored by Thich Nat Hanh are a wonderful introduction to this subject. You also may find information on meditation by clicking on the links to our sponsors on the right side of the home page.

All are welcome, so come share activities, friendship, and food!

Our meditations are led by Walt Bush (Quang Tam) and Viet Le (Quang Phap).  To attend our meetings, just meet us outside the temple at 9:45 am on Saturday mornings. If you are new to our meeting, we will explain the simple etiquette that is observed inside the temple.

Here is a link to a map and driving directions to the Temple:;...

Parking is now available in the back of the temple. Take Hawthorne Avenue to East 28th Street (the first side street you come upon driving down Hawthorne Lane) and make a right. Take East 28th Street all the way down, and make another right onto Butler Avenue. Follow Butler Avenue until you are behind the temple. Please to be considerate of the neighborhood, do not park in front of the temple on the grass or in front of any of the homes adjacent to the temple.

Sitting cushions are provided.

Our practice consists of sitting meditation, a walking meditation, another sitting meditation that is followed by a question and answer period (approximately 1 hour). This is followed by a luncheon prepared by the Western members  of the An Lac Temple and is provided free of charge.

NOTE: Although there is no cost for these meetings and donations are not required or expected, they are greatly appreciated if you choose to make them. Donation boxes are in the front and rear of the Buddha Hall.

We have gone to a pot luck style lunch. Please notify Joann Bush (Quang An) what dish you are bringing. Vegetarian dishes please so as to keep with the tradition of a Vegetarian diet practiced here at An Lac Temple.

Any questions? Just use the "email me" link under my picture on the left and I'll answer as soon as possible. Walt
