cancelled tomorrow's meeting - Hi all, Unfortunately I need to cancel the meeting tomorrow.  Ross has another obligation and my cold symptoms have been really bad this weekend, including a slight fever. In the interest of public health, let's skip this month and catch up in Brad F. Feb 3, 2013 2:48 PM

cancelled tonight's Indy Scala meetup - Unfortunately, I had to cancel tonight's Indy Scala meetup. I am sick and Ross is out of town for work. Our next meetup is Monday, December 3rd at E-gineering. Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - I would be interested in hearing more about Clojure myself, particularly since there seems to have been some good interplay between it and Scala in their development. I'd also be interested in hearing about where Groovy is now; back before I had even Brian H. Aug 16, 2012 4:50 PM

Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - I think you hit the nail on the head re: Jython & JRuby. They're ports of widely used, widely understood dynamic languages to the JVM. They don't have many/any noteworthy distinguishing characteristics, nor particularly interesting designs to Matt D. Aug 16, 2012 4:28 PM
Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - Even if you're not particularly interested in any of those languages -- which is perfectly reasonable -- opening the group up that way might serve to increase attendance, increase the pool of potential speakers, expose more people to the wonders of Sc Miles Z. Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - I'm not particularly interested in Groovy, Jython, JRuby, etc. There's a specific overlapping domain between "Java" and "functional programming" that Scala and Clojure fill. "FP on the JVM" maybe, but you miss out on Matt D. Aug 16, 2012 3:11 PM
Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - Just wondering if it would be better to open up this to non Java JVM type of group (Clojure, Groovy, Scala etc). Increase the scope and include more may generate more of an interest down that road for these non Java JVM languages. On 8/16/2012 user 4. Aug 16, 2012 1:40 PM
Re: [North-Indy-Scala-Meetup] Interest in a Clojure meetup? - There's a lot of overlapping interest between Scala and Clojure. Also some flamethrowers on each side, but I like to think that's a loud minority. If it would help bootstrap things, I personally wouldn't mind Clojure at one of our meetups. Could be fun Ross A. B. Interest in a Clojure meetup? - Hi everyone. I am considering starting a Clojure meetup here in Indy, and wanted to gauge interest before I bite the bullet. I thought I'd ask IndyScala first given members' predisposition to functional languages that target the JVM (et al). IndyS Matt D. Aug 16, 2012 12:09 PM
