The Siren's Song

Saturday Board Gaming @ The Arsenal (Noon-Midnight)
+++THE SATURDAY MONTHLY MEETUP+++

We meet on the 3rd Saturday each month. Each month will have a different theme, with the host running a couple of games which are theme based.

The event is an open gaming event and everyone is encouraged to bring a game or two. Therefore bring out your favorites or stop by and try something new.

Games for the month of June:
Runebound: Island of Dread, Cyclades and Survive.

You can also enter the quarterly game give-away, by playing a game of Seasons with Enchanted Kingdom.

    Sadly, I do not have any games that are based on the water unless we count The Doge's Ship and Inkognito. So, it looks like I am bringing them. I will also bring Space Hulk if anyone wants to borrow and run. Rounding out my list, I will bring Caylus, and if I get it in the mail, The Duke.

    I am pretty new to the board gaming scene here, since I have no games to really contribute at this point , and being a newbie, is it possible to get involved and learn some new games?

      I've seen a number of new folks (and was one recently enough to remember vividly, just been a few months for me). Main thing is once there, if you see something being set up, or sitting around that seems interesting, ask if there's a seat. Answer's usually 'yes' unless the game's full.

      The "standing around trying to spot what's starting up or might be starting up" tends to be the hardest part, but we've all been there.

      I am ex-officio one of the organizers here in the group. +1 for everything said above. Saturdays tend to run the gambit from light and social to complex and utterly engaging. If you just want to play a game and do not care about the complexity of it, just grab a seat where someone is setting up. THe *ONLY* reason someone will turn you away is if a group of us got on here and actively tried to schedule a particular game and it is "full" before we get to the store. Other than that, we are a generally fun and light-hearted bunch and we typically try to go out of our way to make sure new members are included.

    Since the event was created with a water theme in mind, decided to name it accordingly. Therefore, dating back to early sailing days, one thing that truly terrified sailors was the lure of the siren's call.

      If it has a water theme, I will definitely be bringing my Catan: Explorers & Pirates.

    Is this event title a reference to a Talisman card? http://www.talismanwiki.com/Siren
