Thursday Night Gaming @ The Arsenal Game Room

The Arsenal Game Room has an open board game event every Thursday. We play a wide variety of modern board games, ranging from Ameritrash to heavy Euro.

Will highlight games that the organizer will be hosting for the week.

For this large of a group event, a greater would be a benefit.

As the organizer for the meetup, I would like to extend my apologies for your experience. But it does bring up a few talking points.
    1. At the time you arrived, some games were just getting started, although there were several still deciding on what to play and started shortly thereafter. There was also a group running a demo of their prototype game.
    2. If you stop by, make sure you speak with the Arsenal staff. They would have pointed you in the direction of Mark, Matt or myself. I make an honest attempt to greet all players, but sometimes a few will slide through.
    3. Like Matt and Mark stated, walk up say hello and jump into a game. Our group is very open and willing to play with everyone.

Hope you come back and are able to get some great gaming in.

    Thanks,

    Ken

I have known you for a while, Ed. I was busy playing Carson City and didn't see you come in. If I did, I would have said hi. I have found that you have to be very extroverted and ask people to play a board game. Also, try the basement. When I went down there I saw a pretty woman waiting for people to play Elder Sign with her.

Got there about 5:20, hung around for a half hour or so. In that time no one said hello and what games were being played were already full. All said and done it seemed very cliquish.

Hmmm... a few thoughts. 1. If I saw you, I would have said hi. I make it a point to try to welcome new people whenever I can. 2. Game nights, as a whole, are indeed cliquish. For many of us, we use game nights as a means of catching up and discussing the past week in addition to gaming. we all sort of have those people that we call friends and we tend to stick with them, but that does not mean that we are closed off and not willing to play with new people. 3. Communication being a two way street, did you approach others standing/sitting around looking for a game or ask if you could watch?
