Get Introduced!

Let's have our inaugural meetup for Information Architects Vancouver Meetup. We'll most likely meet somewhere on Commercial Drive at a place where you can have a drink, dinner, or both.

This inaugural event will be to introduce ourselves, get to know each other. Bring any questions you have, work you want feedback on, and business cards!

There's no charge for this meetup - but you do need to pay for your own drinks and dinner.

    Just tripped over the following:
Remember that information is just pieces of data not the same thing as knowledge. Knowledge is true belief supported by good reasons; information doesn't have this vaulted status. And to transform information into knowledge we need critical thinking. From "The Power of Critical Thinking", Lewis Vaughn & Chris MacDonald, 2008. I wonder if there can be a critical thinking architecture. :)

Well organized to ensure interaction for even the shyest. I was also delighted to win the draw and am looking forward to attending World IA Day. Thank you Theresa and Chris - great idea & great job!

Intelligent people who are highly invested in a highly specialized field - awesome results!

Really enjoyed the evening, great energy, and the break out conversations was a good idea.

It was a great mix of people with different professional backgrounds and experiences. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to talk in-depth with experienced Information Architects.

Great group, thanks so much to Theresa for organizing and also for pushing us to actually tackle some IA 'hot topics'. Lively discussion, nice to meet some new people and the venue was great. Will definitely be back next month! :)

Not going to make it; not much voice too much phlegm.
    Wait a minute!
Too much information without any architecture.

Information from various sources always depends on the context in which the user wants to use it; it seems as if one wants to anticipate several contexts of use.

I wonder if a data mining multidimensional cube might be of use here. :)

I'm tripled booked on Monday! Sorry to be missing this inaugural event, and I look forward to meeting as many architects as I can at the next meetup. Have fun!

Would love to attend but Mondays don't work for me. I hope it's a good event.

Also, I didn't intend to make the general decision. Sorry for picking it for the event. It wasn't clear that was going to happen. I actually thought I was just making a suggestion!

    Sure. No problem. Any preference?

Chris, would you be able to call them a couple days ahead of time to make a reservation for our group? Thanks SO much for the suggestions!

Upstairs @ Falconetti's works well. Downstairs can get a bit loud. St. Augustine's is another viable option with a big space.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
