RAIN CANCELS

Safety First: Bicyclists on public streets have the same rights and responsibilities as automobile and motorcycle drivers. California Bicycle Laws indicate that bicyclists:

  • Must obey all traffic signals and stop signs.
  • Must ride in the same direction as other traffic, not against it.
  • Shall ride as near to the right curb or edge of the roadway as practical– not on the sidewalk.
  • May legally move left to turn left, to pass a parked or moving vehicle, bicycle, animal, make a turn or avoid debris and other hazards.
  • Should ride single file on a busy or narrow street.
  • Must make left and right turns in the same way that drivers do, using the same turn lanes.
  • Must signal all their intentions to motorists and bicyclists near them.

All IEWC Riders are expected follow these traffic laws to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. IEWC riders are required to wear a helmet and shoes on all rides and are encouraged to carry identification and emergency contact information in their bike pack or on their person. Thanks to all you ladies who showed and participated in the ride! I had a blast riding with you and the Energized crew - very laid back and nice ride with cool breezes and sunshine for our day. Thanks to Alyssa, Mary and Carol for helping lead and with the group. Hope to see all of you soon on another ride!

We had a large group- 17 plus 13 from Energized - my count may be off because a few peeps came late and some were dropped off by cars on the route!

As of now the 4th of July high for Rancho Cucamonga is 91 with partly cloudy skies for the morning. At ride start temps will be 71 -72 rising to mid 70's and high 70's to low 80's by the end of the ride. Winds SW at 2 -6 mph. Looks like nice weather for a bike ride!

Feel free to wear your red, white and blue and decorate your bikes for our ride as we celebrate the 4th of July! Be at the park a little earlier so we can "dress up the bikes". :-)

We have about 16 from Energized along with our crew from IEWC signed up thus far...woo hoo! There probably will be drop offs so I am predicting about half from each group - still a nice sized group for a ride. :-)

I live in the High Desert where there aren't any nice bike trails so I mainly ride Pacific Electric Trail now. I look forward to riding with a fun group of people in a nice setting!

Hi Tina, I think you will really love this route! We will be on nicely paved streets with bike lanes and not the PET - you will ride through the tunnel you see from the PET!
