Funday Sunday With Mountain Bikes!

Join us for a casual beginner mountain bike ride! We’ll meet at Carbon Canyon Regional Park at 4442 Carbon Canyon Road in Brea on Sunday at 8:00am. We’ll ride 10-15 miles (until we get tired). When you get to the park gate you’ll need to pay a $3 to enter (they accept cash and credit/debit cards). After you go through the gate you can turn right or left; you will turn left and proceed to the end of the parking lot & I’ll be parked there in a gray Dodge Journey with a bike rack on my hitch. If you have any questions give me a call on my cell at[masked]-3842. We’ll actually be mountain biking in Chino Hills State Park which is adjacent to Carbon Canyon Regional Park, but it’s easier to park at Carbon Canyon.

Emphasis: exercise, saddle time, off-road

Levels: 10-12 average mph

Type of bike: mountain

Ride Difficulty Rating: The climb on the way out is a mild grade, and the way back is all downhill for a nice cool down before you get back to your car. This is a good ride for beginner mountain bikers.

What to bring: All IEWC are required to wear helmets. Bring a water bottle, spare tubes, pump, change, and/or snack. After the ride we’ll likely catch a meal!

PLEASE NOTE: The time of the ride shown above is the actual departure time. Please allow time for bicycle assembly and inspection, filling of water bottles, inflating tires, etc. prior to departure.
*** As a courtesy to the host, if you cannot attend last minute, please call or text Rebecca[masked]
Safety First: Bicyclists on public streets have the same rights and responsibilities as automobile and motorcycle drivers. California Bicycle Laws indicate that bicyclists:
•Must obey all traffic signals and stop signs.
•Must ride in the same direction as other traffic, not against it.
•Shall ride as near to the right curb or edge of the roadway as practical– not on the sidewalk.
•May legally move left to turn left, to pass a parked or moving vehicle, bicycle, animal, make a turn or avoid debris and other hazards.
•Should ride single file on a busy or narrow street.
•Must make left and right turns in the same way that drivers do, using the same turn lanes.
•Must signal all their intentions to motorists and bicyclists near them.
All IEWC Riders are expected follow these traffic laws to ensure a safe and enjoyable ride. IEWC riders are required to wear a helmet and shoes on all rides and are encouraged to carry identification and emergency contact information in their bike pack or on their person.
