I believe one person or one family chances of surviving a big "event" increases when it has the support of others that are as preppared as he/she/they is.
I lived through the Pinochet coup d'etat in Chile and the Shining Path terrorist years in Peru and I know what is coming. Only the ones prepared and only the ones that join forces will survive "the event" and the days, months or years after it.
