Are you a smart woman who lives your life a little bit differently? This is a group for women in their 40s and 50s who want to expand their social circle and form meaningful connections with like-minded women. And have some fun too! We get together regularly for interesting and creative activities such as theatre, music, arthouse films and stimulating conversation. We're based in Melbourne's inner north (but many members do come from further afield too).
Most events are in the city or inner north. To encourage real and genuine connections, the group size for many events is limited to 10-15. Our activities to date have included:
Theatre at La Mama, Red Stitch, the Lawler Studio and the North Melbourne Arts House
The Melbourne International Comedy Festival
The Melbourne International Film Festival
The Melbourne Fringe Festival
Bollywood dancing and Go Go dancing
Poetry slam at Trades Hall
Films at the Nova
Bike rides and bushwalks
Drinks, lunches and dinners.
We try to keep the cost of the events we attend reasonable. Some events are free, others have ticket prices of $15-$45. Membership of the group is free, however members are asked to make a $2 'donation' for each event they attend to cover website costs etc. There's usually a chance for a coffee/drink/meal after each event.
Suggestions for new events are always welcome, and all members are encouraged to organise events.
This is a group with a focus on active and meaningful participation. While we are a friendly, flexible and relatively rule-free group, we do request that all members:
attend at least one event every six months
only RSVP to events they really intend to attend
change their RSVP and let the event organiser know if they are unable to attend an event at the last minute.
Please only join this group, if you are willing to commit to attending events! Also please include an identifiable photo of yourself in your application - avatars will not be accepted. Photos are visible only to group members.
