A Woman's Place...

Can women have it all?

“We hold ourselves back in ways both big and small, by lacking self-confidence, by not raising our hands, and by pulling back when we should be leaning in,” she writes, and the result is that “men still run the world.” -Sheryl Sandberg

Ms. Sandberg is a successful executive, currently chief operating officer of Facebook. Sheryl Sandberg has a new book, "Lean In" exploring her views and experience on  women and  the workplace

When dealing with barriers and gender discrimination in the workplace, what ideas of Sandberg's make sense?   What ideas  of her's do you question?

. Let's discuss her ideas and the issues of women and careers.

A wide ranging conversation about women in the workplace. I was really impressed by the diversity of the folks there and hope to meet them again...

I have to take my son to a college fair so I won't be able to discuss whether women can have it all...

Have not had time to read her writing...therefore my input would be limited.

Is this current date for this discussion no longer valid?

    May 17, 2013

    • Jim B

This date is still valid. I've added a second repeat event

Thanks for scheduling a repeat, it's confusing to see an event appear for the first time with a 25 person waitlist. Do people sign up via "upcoming meetups" way in advance of the first e-mail announcement?

Any chance discussions such as these can be on a Friday night or Saturday daytime/night? Or Sunday daytime? I don't live in the city, so making a weeknight is not doable.

Most of our events are Friday nights or the weekend. I'll be adding a second edition of this topic for a Sunday brunch.

Jim, I see the new date and time (June 22nd), but I'm already booked for that day! If I weren't, I would be there like a shot! Please repeat another daytime/brunchtime, and I will do my very best to be there! That goes for all the other wonderful conversation events - weekend daytime, please! :)

Hey, if there's enough demand for this, might you be able to do a second one... anytime June 3 or after?

    April 25, 2013

    • Jim B

Yes, we will likely have a second event later in the summer.

Love your comment Eric!!! Remember if you attend the event there will be a lot of women :-) Okay Okay, I know not exactly the same as being invite over . . .
