Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In

I am currently reading the book "Getting to Yes: Negotiating Agreement Without Giving In" by Roger Fisher and William Ury. It is a very interesting read. It talks about positional bargaining versus bargaining based on interest.

Many of us can become fearful in negotiations worrying that we can not achieve what we am looking for. As a result, I can be closed off and less likely to actually find more mutually satisfying agreements. If we are bargaining with someone who is a hard bargainer, we may lose more than we want.

This book will give you a much better idea of how to go about achieving an agreement that will be satisfying to all parties involved.

Why not read the book and then join us for interesting conversation at Diesel Cafe.

so, is it exclusively mandatory to read the book?
because although I'm really interested and excited to read it, I can't see it (reading the entire book) happening this week with finals and all...... (life of a senior college student)

If the answer is yea (mandatory), I'll change my RSVP... I just can't guarantee anything at this point..

    OK, that's all :)

Paula, I am on the same boat with you in this one. I have not read the book and with my schedule, I dont think I have the time. So I will be there just as spectator and to provide my unbiased opinion beyond the book ;)
