Deerfield Valley Canopy Tours (map)
Get a bird's-eye view of the Berkshires via Deerfield Valley's zipline canopy tour! I've always wanted to do this, and I admit that I got the idea from another meetup group that's doing it on a day I'm not available.
Here's a description from the website:
...an aerial trek through the woods by means of 11 zip lines, 2 sky bridges and 3 rappels suspended in the trees in the northern Berkshires and connected through platforms that sit high above the forest floor. ...This unique 3-hour zip line adventure starts 600 feet above our basecamp. Progressively longer and faster zips take you through various forest zones from the wind-stunted trees along the ridge to the magnificent full-height pines on the hillside.

!!! RESERVATIONS AND PARTIAL PAYMENT ARE REQUIRED !!! I've already made my reservation. Please use the contact information provided here to make your own for the 1:00pm tour on Saturday, June 12. Deerfield caps each group at 8 participants so make your reservation as soon as possible.
It's about a 2.5 hour drive to Charlemont from Boston, so we'll carpool from Davis Sq. at 9:30 Saturday morning. We'll arrive in plenty of time to do the tour.
COST: $90 + $13.50 cancellation insurance (optional) + $1.80 processing fee
From Deerfield, here's the fine print about cancellation insurance:
Activity Cancellation Policy (Applies To Zip Line Canopy Tour)
For cancellations more than 30 days in advance of your activity date, we retain a $10 per person cancellation fee.
30 days or less in advance, you forfeit the entire cost of your trip unless you have cancellation insurance.
Cancellation insurance allows you to cancel or change your reservation up to 24 hours in advance. If you cancel your trip, you'll receive a full refund minus the cost of the cancellation insurance and processing fee. The cost of the insurance is 15% of the trip cost.
Make your reservation here --> June 12, 2010 -- 1:00pm tour
