Carpe Caffeine: Conflict Resolution (rescheduled)

So every couple has their arguments, their fights, their conflicts.

Some work through them. But with other couples the relationship gets more and more toxic.  Where do you think most couples fall?

In your personal life, what lessons have you learned to resolve relationship conflicts?

How do you compromise?  What can't be compromised?

What do you do now in a relationship to communicate effectively, to hear your partner better, and to defuse emotions like anger and contempt, that you learned the hard way from past relationships?

This IM meetup will be different.  Do you have a story to tell?   Have you some hard earned life lessons to share?   If so sign up for the waiting list.

The two greatest leaps forward in conflict resolution were: 1) Jack Broughton's first rules of modern boxing, written in 1752 I believe, though still highyly relevant today, and 2) the concept of truth-and-reconciliation as practiced by Nelson Mandela and the ANC. Both are applicable to all conflicts, from the international to the interpersonal.

I get the boxing resolving things in 10 rounds. Truth and reconciliation, that's complicated.

It's all about structuring or re-structuring one's brain architecture.

If one tells the truth about what he has done to another TO that person, and then apologizes, often in front of witnesses, it has a profoundly positive effect on the "wronged" individual. It gives the
victim some peace and a sense of justice. It clears the air. It can pave the way for forgiveness and even a relationship between the two people. The wronged person is often done with the hate and tirades
against the other. He can exhale now. And often the "guilty" party
is cleansed and redeemed. He has told the truth. He has perhaps asked
for forgiveness. He has said that he is sorry. Now he has paved the way
to forgiving himself. A process of renewal can begin and sometimes a
    new and rewarding relationship evolves.

Now tell me. How did word of this great meet up get out? Tonight is my
first time seeing anything about it!!! I did not get an invite! Is there
something wrong with my email? 9
