Monogamy?? (the sequel)

Diesel Cafe (map)

Selected By: Jim B

Is monogamy in our nature?

Is marriage, or even a long term relationship, something just for the story books?  Does fidelity only get lip service these days?

Are you a serial monogamist?   ;-)

How do you define monogamy?  Social monogamy?   Sexual monogamy?  Genetic monogamy?

Do we see monogamy in other animals?  In other mammals?   In other primates?

Come join us for a lively discussion of pros and cons of monogamy in this day and age.

This group really needs to change its way of handling the waiting list. First on the waiting list should be first to get to the meeting. This idea that those who are always on the computer, or have mobile devices have the advantage is not good business. Also it is annoying to get 10 or so messages that there is room, but when clicked, the event is full. I know there is nothing new in this message, but come on!

This was my first meetup discussion experience, I enjoyed the banter and sharing of ideas.

Good stimulating conversation on the topic.

Meh. Some got a bit too emotional and ideological with their opinions and condemnation of others. In the first group, there seemed to be more reflection and people were more open with their experiences, nuanced, and less inclined to prove others wrong or shame them. There were a few people at the meeting who didn't speak because they were uncomfortable of the reactions. Those who had strong opinions on this made their opinions known and it became less of an open exploration of the topic. Was a lively discussion. I don't think it needed to be that way though. Ideas could have been exchanged without the climate created of the moralizing.
