WHAT IS MINDFULNESS MEDITATION? Mindfulness meditation (also known as Insight meditation or Vipassana) is a 2,600 year-old practice which cultivates a clear, stable and non-judgmental awareness. Mindfulness meditation is highly effective in helping bring calm and clarity to the pressures of daily life. It is also a spiritual path which gradually dissolves barriers to the full development of wisdom and compassion. WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS GROUP? This group is open to anyone interested in learning about and practicing mindfulness meditation. We will practice and study within the context of the Buddhist tradition, although this group is non-sectarian. You are welcome if you: •are just curious about mindfulness meditation •want to improve your ability to meditate •want to practice meditation with others •want to use meditation as an adjunct to your own psychotherapy or 12-Step program •want to improve your stress management •want to meditate as part of your spiritual life WHAT IS THE FORMAT OF THIS GROUP? The format includes meditation instruction, meditation practice, talks and discussion of meditation-related topics. WHAT DOES THIS GROUP COST? There is no cost for this course. DO I NEED TO REGISTER?
